Marie, the model of the painting on the right. We met her with a group of other children while they visited one lavoir in Kermario thru L' association Saint-Gunthiern (volunteers responsible for the upkeep and providing awareness of Groix's lavoir and fontaines). The association cleans and maintains one lavoir or fountain per week, 28 of which only remain today. The elders in the association taught the children the traditional way of washing (using the wooden platforms where women knelt while washing, wooden washing bat and homemade soap), and drying clothes and the important role of the young generation in preserving the place.

The portrait of the old lady on the right, entitled "ondine" (little waves) is the President of the said association.
